The Best Tools You Really Need to Cut Wood

Posted by onewayposter on Feb 27, 2010 in General

There are a few other tools that are not necessary but will come in handy.  A power drill is inexpensive and will save you effort on repetitive screwing and help with starter holes.  A jigsaw is another tool that can come in handy and is something that’s not very expensive for basic models. Even if you sometimes might ask you what is the best jigsaw to cut wood ?  A band saw is cheap, lightweight and perfect for cutting small pieces of plastic and wood.

A good set of screwdrivers is also a must have for home repairs and improvements.  Get a set that has different sizes of both Philip’s head and flat head screwdrivers.  Many come with changeable heads so you can save space.

Also a must have is an adjustable wrench in a few different sizes to tighten and remove nuts and bolts.  While it’s a good idea to also have pliers, they shouldn’t be used on bolts since you might strip the head, making it difficult to remove and loosen.

While you should call a professional for most electrical work, there are some household projects that you can safely do yourself.  For example, you can wire speakers from your TV or stereo.  For these types of projects you will need wire cutters, strippers, and a set of needle-nose pliers.  You will also need some electrical tape for insulating bare wires.  Make sure you always unplug equipment from the power source before working on it.

So you don’t have to be a handyman or shell out money to a professional for small projects around the home.  With just a few simple tools you can do some repairs and improvements yourself.
